Melanin Inhibitor and
Depigmentation Agent - Vesta research demonstrates 50% avg Decreased Melanin Formation in skin-cell cultures treated with Pearl Tomato 5%™.
- Two different studies show that Pearl Tomato Inhibited Melanin Synthesis in BOTH UV- and Forskolin-induced melanin synthesis (58% & 42%, respectively).
- Conclusion, Part 1: The results summarized that the test product has demonstrated efficacy to reduce melanin production in melanoma cells. Exposure of human skin to UVA radiation induces the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The test product has proved to neutralize these free radicals, thereby diminishing the polymerization of existing melanin or melanogenic precursors, ultimately reducing skin pigmentation.
- Conclusion, Part 2: The results summarized that the test product ‘Pearl Tomato 5%’ demonstrated efficacy to reduce melanin production in melanoma cells and thereby reduce skin pigmentation. In this study, the modulatory effect was analyzed for test product against forskolin induced melanin synthesis for enzyme adenylyl cyclase inhibition and reduced intracellular cAMP levels. The test product – Pearl Tomato 5%TM appeared to inhibit the enzyme adenylyl cyclase and to reduce the intracellular cAMP levels, thereby decreasing the melanogenesis process and reducing skin pigmentation.
- In addition, Pearl Tomato 5%™ demonstrated High Melanin Inhibition Activity for Mushroom Tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin formation.
- The study results show that Pearl Tomato had high Melanin Inhibition as compared to the positive control Kojic acid in the Mushroom Tyrosinase biochemical assay (220 and 91 µg/mL IC50, respectively).
